Happy New Year with Fireworks from Airlie Beach

We know it's passed New Year but thought to share this picture over Airlie Beach with you. Communication has been hard over the last few days with little wifi (too many people using it) so no access. The Aussie phone card would not work via the only public pay phone we could find. So we emailed  and FaceTime'ed when we could. Hope everyone had a great New Year once we have the opportunity well phone etc

Temperatures getting really hot here at the moment but in the middle of the night it has poured down so about 4am you get a little rest bite. Around 15th January we are going to the Australian dead centre, Ayres Rock (Uluru) driving then camping and walking. The current temp there is 44 degrees C. Most people we have spoken to simply laugh and tell us it's the wrong time of the year. We are thinking they are right but never mind we'll take plenty of water etc etc.
